The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a lawsuit in Denver County District Court challenging Colorado's Proposition KK as an unconstitutional tax on the exercise of a fundamental constitutional right.

In November of 2024, Colorado created a 6.5% state excise tax to be paid by vendors on the sale of firearms, ammunition, and firearm precursor parts to consumers located in Colorado. The excise tax does not apply to wholesale sales or sales to peace officers, active-duty U.S. military personnel, and law enforcement. The provisions of “Proposition KK” are codified at Colo. Rev. Stat. § 39-37-101, et seq.

NSSF® praises the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's unanimous decision to uphold the bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which reversed the Pennsylvania Superior Court's decision to allow the frivolous lawsuit of Gustafson v. Springfield, Inc. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court's decision held that the PLCAA is constitutional and applies to bar the lawsuit.

North Dakota landowners applying for deer gratis licenses will notice improvements to the online application process. The new system simplifies land selection by allowing users to click on property descriptions rather than manually entering lengthy details.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) will begin accepting applications for the newly named “Copper State Draw” at 8 a.m. (Arizona time) Wednesday, April 2. Copper State Draw offers hunters a chance to draw an additional elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and pronghorn permit-tag, while generating revenue to support wildlife conservation efforts across the state.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is offering a six-month workshop to teach skills needed to hunt, field dress and cook white-tailed deer to individuals who have little to no archery hunting experience.

Arkansas turkey hunters will need to add one more item to their hunting vest this season: an Arkansas Turkey Hunting Tag. The tags and a valid hunting license are required to enable the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to more accurately judge the number of hunters taking to the field in the search of a gobbler.
