WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – Savage Arms has great news for serious shooters and hunters who want more from their modern sporting rifles. Several options of the semi-auto MSR 10 Hunter takes the popular AR-10 platform to new heights, offering greater performance, expanded caliber choices and a modern design, plus a full suite of custom upgrades packaged as standard features. Shipments of the new rifles have been delivered to dealers.

The Savage MSR 10 Hunter is a compact sporting platform that still packs the punch of 308 Win., and 6.5 Creedmoor chamberings. The rifle squeezes even more performance from its upgraded Savage barrel with a 5R rifling, a BLACKHAWK! trigger with nickel boron treatment, and a tough Melonite QPQ finish. Other upgrades including a freefloat fore-end, custom-forged lower receiver and BLACKHAWK! adjustable buttstock and pistol grip turn the Hunter into the ultimate big game rifle.

In January 2018, MSR 10 Hunter will available in the 338 Federal chambering. Since its introduction in 2006, the 338 Federal has established itself has an extremely versatile, high-performance big game cartridge.

Built on the .308 case and “necked-up” to hold a .338 diameter bullet, this 338 Federal load offers hunters a faster muzzle velocity than the 308 Win. But with a heavier bullet. As a result, the short-action cartridge provides magnum energy for devastating performance on game, without magnum recoil.

Federal Premium is pleased to introduce an all-new cartridge that takes the popular MSR 15 platform to unheard of heights in long-range precision and ballistic performance. The 224 Valkyrie produces flat trajectories, match-grade accuracy and supersonic velocities beyond 1,300 yards downrange.

“The 224 Valkyrie is based on a 30 Rem./6.8 SPC case necked down to .224 caliber,” explains Mike Holm, Federal Premium Centerfire Ammunition Global Product Lane Director. “It beats the ballistics of all other MSR 15 cartridges, including the 22 Nosler, 223 Rem. and 6.5 Grendel. Plus, it offers comparable performance to larger rounds like the 6.5 Creedmoor, with roughly half the felt recoil—and at a more economical price.”

Learn more and see the cartridge perform in the 224 Valkyrie intro video.

Shooters can review the technical specifications for the new round once it is approved by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI) which is expected in January at the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. At that time, information such as chamber specifications and cartridge pressure standards, proof pressure range and barrel length/twist recommendations will be communicated. Cartridge and chamber drawings will also be available soon after SAAMI approves the cartridge for standardization.

Testing conducted by Federal Premium engineers using 24-inch test barrels with a 1:7 twist revealed the 224 Valkyrie offers up to 128 inches less drop and 69 inches less wind drift (with a 10 mph crosswind) at 1,000 yards than other MSR 15 rounds. The new cartridge also offers significant advantages in velocity and energy.

The 224 Valkyrie will initially be available in four loads: 90-grain Gold Medal Sierra MatchKing, 60-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint, 90-grain Fusion MSR and 75-grain American Eagle TMJ. These proven Federal Premium bullet offerings provide options for long-range competitors, target shooters and hunters pursuing game from varmints up to deer-sized animals.

Federal Premium engineers designed the 224 Valkyrie for gas-driven MSR 15 actions, but it’s also extremely effective from bolt guns. “The easiest way for shooters to capitalize on the new cartridge is purchase a firearm from one of the many gun makers jumping on the 224 Valkyrie bandwagon,” says Holm. “You can also buy a new upper and use it with your existing lower. A gunsmith or other person trained in building MSRs can also make the necessary modifications.”

Part No. / Description / MSRP
GM224VLKM1 / 224 Valkyrie 90-grain Gold Medal Sierra MatchKing / $31.95
P224VLKBT1 / 224 Valkyrie 60-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip / $26.95
F224VLKMSR1 / 224 Valkyrie 100-grain Fusion MSR / $28.95
AE224VLK1 / 224 Valkyrie 75-grain American Eagle TMJ / $12.95

Reloading data will be available in spring of 2018, when SAAMI releases its load-building specifications. However, reloading die sets will be available from RCBS, and other ammo-building components will also be offered by several popular brands.

GENESEO, IL, December 15, 2017 – Springfield Armory’s most elite production 1911, now available in the potent 10mm cartridge. Two new 10mm TRPTM Operator® models – one with a 5-inch barrel, and a long-slide with a 6-inch barrel – deliver tactically proven engineering, greater terminal velocity and now more stopping power.

The TRPTM (Tactical Response Pistol) line is based on the custom Professional ModelTM that met the stringent specifications to win the FBI’s coveted HRT 1911 pistol contract. Until now, Springfield’s TRP Operator 1911s were available in .45 ACP only. Since its introduction, the TRP has become the standard for serious fighting handguns – a tradition the feature-rich 10mm models continue.

“We have offered 10mm 1911s from our Springfield CustomTM Shop for many years but this is the first production 10mm 1911 offering in the Springfield Armory lineup,” says CEO Dennis Reese. “The TRP 10mm is soft shooting, built for accuracy and takes advantage of the full potential of the hottest 10mm rounds, just as the cartridge was originally intended.”

Forged steel frames and slides are precision fitted to Match Grade stainless steel barrels with fully supported ramps. Frames and slides are coated in Black-T®, a self- lubricating, highly corrosion resistant finish that is engineered to shield the firearm from the heaviest use and toughest conditions. Integrated three-slot accessory rails allow rock-solid attachment of lights and lasers. Sights are 3-dot tritium night sights, featuring a tactical-rack rear in the 5″ version, and a fully adjustable rear in the 6″ model.

The Octo-GripTM front strap and mainspring housing coupled with G10 VZ Grips® assure a confident hold. Once the ambidextrous safety lever is flipped, the Springfield Armory Gen 2 Speed Trigger, tuned to a crisp 4.5- to 5-pound pull, delivers custom- grade feel and performance. The 10mm recoil is tamed by properly balancing the recoil impulse with a heavier slide/barrel combination in conjunction with an optimized recoil spring making it an unbelievably soft-shooting pistol. Each 10mm TRP Operator is shipped with two 8-round magazines.

The new 10mm TRP Operator models weigh in at 40 oz. (5-inch barrel) and 45 oz. (6- inch barrel), making these full-sized 1911 pistols soft-shooting and well-balanced options in a serious fighting handgun.

“The TRP is built with one goal in mind – to be the toughest, most reliable and accurate fighting gun available,” according to Springfield’s Reese. “There is no place for compromise. Our TRP Operator models are simply the best production 1911s on the market.”

MSRP: $1790 (5″ barrel) or $1842 (6″ barrel). Now available in two models:

PC9510L18 5″ 10mm TRP Operator MSRP: $1790 PC9610L18 6″ 10mm TRP Operator MSRP: $1842
