The Michigan Department of Natural Resources received a total of 24 proposals requesting nearly $393,000 this year for the Community Forestry grant program. Nine communities were awarded money to plant 260 trees, train around 200 students, residents and city staff, create plans to sustainably manage over 14,500 public trees and more.
